Noctiluca
Hospitality
La Patrona Polo Club — San Francisco, Nayarit, Mexico. 2018
Project Overview
Noctiluca is a suspended luminous installation developed as a central spatial organism within a hospitality environment.
Conceived as an atmospheric landmark, the piece activates the architectural volume through diffused radiance and cellular articulation. Rather than functioning as a decorative object, it establishes a luminous field that enhances vertical perception and spatial continuity.
Scaled and engineered to respond to the specific ceiling height and circulation dynamics of the space.
Concept
Inspired by marine bioluminescence and microscopic aquatic ecosystems, the installation explores how light can behave as a suspended constellation — fluid yet structured.
The internal cellular logic allows the piece to emit a soft, immersive glow, generating presence without visual weight.
Structure
Rotomoulded crystal resin
Integrated LED system
Suspended anchoring system adapted to architectural structure
Technical Data
Typology: Suspended sculptural light installation
Dimensions: 70 to 110cm in a 30x10x3m volume
Installation Method: Ceiling-suspended structural integration
Spatial Integration
Positioned as a luminous anchor within the lobby, the installation reinforces the architectural axis while maintaining spatial openness.
The cellular configuration allows permeability of sightlines, preserving transparency while introducing depth and atmosphere.
Its presence shifts throughout the day as ambient light conditions evolve.
