Austral 14.8
Dark Matter System
Project Overview
Austral +14.8 is a sculptural light installation derived from the geometry of a dark matter node within the cosmic web structure of the universe.
The installation is based on the spatial structure of Pavo Node 14.8, located approximately 700 million light-years away in the South Pole region of the cosmic web, where three cosmic filaments converge.
This node marks one extremity of the South Pole Wall, one of the largest known structures in the nearby universe.
Developed using the Dark Matter System, Austral +14.8 translates these invisible cosmic structures into luminous architectural form.
Concept
Austral 14.8 explores the relationship between cosmic structure and human spatial perception.
The installation materializes a node of the cosmic web — regions where filaments of dark matter intersect and galaxies emerge.
Through light and structure, the piece makes visible an otherwise invisible architecture that shapes the universe.
The project is part of the ongoing Unseen Architectures exploration, translating invisible spatial structures into luminous form.
Structure
Austral 14.8 is constructed using the Dark Matter structural system developed by NUR Living Lights.
The installation is formed by continuous polycarbonate tubes describing flowing spatial trajectories derived from the cosmic V-web geometry.
Custom 3D-printed structural nodes connect the tubular elements, allowing precise translation of digital spatial models into physical structure.
Integrated LED systems generate a continuous luminous field across the installation.
The system allows scalable configurations adapted to different architectural environments.
Spatial Application
Austral 14.8 is conceived as an immersive spatial installation for hospitality architecture, public spaces and exhibition environments.
The structure defines a luminous spatial field that visitors can inhabit and traverse.
Ground-based configurations allow the installation to establish a strong spatial presence while maintaining structural clarity.
Each installation is adapted in scale and density according to architectural conditions.
